West Virginia, Wild and Wonderful

I hope everyone had a great Independence day weekend! I sure did! We headed out west, as in West Virginia, and had a Pool Party/BBQ at my dad’s house. Lots of friends, sunshine and play. Even an unsuspected water balloon fight. Bawse was included in the festivities too! Even though he did NOT like being thrown into the pool. Aren’t people just bullies? It was so great to be surrounded by friends and family and enjoying the weekend. Thank you to everyone that made the drive out there to join us!

Oh Happy Day!

Yup. Legally married. Thanks for all the congratulations and love. No, don’t get salty, there was no wedding. Just our celebrant making it legal, then a dinner with my bridesmaids and his groomsmen and our friends who wanted to take us out for dinner (they weren’t even at the ceremony). Our parents weren’t even there.

We are in the works to plan a traditional Lao ceremony next year. That too will be a small backyard affair. I really don’t want to plan some giant show. Yesterday was something he did for me. I didn’t want a big wedding. I just wanted it to be me and him in that moment, saying our vows and making it official. Just our quiet moment. That was our compromise for having an additional event later.

Yes, I may have a blog, and a brand, but what you see is what I choose to share. Somethings I like to keep special for me! But stay tuned while I stress over planning a Lao Wedding! Haha. <3

Congratulations Amy & Kyle

They did it! After a year of stressing and planning, its over and now they can live happily ever after. The wedding activities also consisted of a welcome bbq at their cottage.

This included, canoeing, stand up boarding, swimming and fireworks. Yes, they had their own fireworks show.

My darling niece, Avairy, the flower girl who had to quit her job because running around was way better, and her daddy Jordan.

These two are so cute, you wanna barf. But like, a cute barf. The ceremony was headed by Jordan’s father, the pastor. They had seating for 70 guests, in the Jasper Park pavilion. She looked beautiful against the handmade backdrop (good job bridesmaids!)

Each place setting had something fun suggested on it to get to know your table mates.

Love was definitely in the air. I can’t wait to marry my love next week! (Not the wedding just the legal document signing :D)

The first dance. So sweet. And then we broke it dooooooooooooown!It was worth the 12 hour road trip to see family and relax lakeside. The wedding was sweet, simple, beautifully done, and gave me a refreshed outlook on weddings. Maybe I will try harder to plan our wedding. As long as family is there that’s all that matters really. Make Up Monday: Eye Liner

Okay, lets be girly for a second. I don’t usually wear a lot of makeup. But like most women, I do like it, and the idea of it. I’m more of the lets look like I’m not wearing makeup, make up. That being said, my face usually consists of mascara, and eyeliner only on the water line of the top lashes and tinted sunblock.

I love how some people always wear eye liner. The kind where they have the smooth line, and it’s winged out. I can’t do that. Or at least I don’t have the patience to, to practice. But I like the idea of it. So one day, my felt tip liner from Lorac died. I decided it wasn’t worth it for me to go get a higher end liquid liner. So I just went to target and grabbed one that looked cute. (I’m a graphic designer, I do judge things by its cover).

I knew for sure that I wanted a liquid liner, that would stay put, and I’ve had the best luck with the felt tip. Bring in Covergirl’s Bombshell Intensity Eyeliner in Pitch Black Passion. I was reading some reviews, about how it’s dry, yadda yadda. However, they must have changed the formula, or I am lucky, because mine was wet. It dries quickly enough that it doesn’t get everywhere when you open your eyes but wet enough for you to get a moistened q-tip to clean up your lines.

As you can see, I’m a little uneven, but I really like it, because it’s dummy proof enough for me! I found myself putting it on every day since I’ve gotten it. Barely takes me any time at all! I wanted to share in case you had the same girl troubles I do!

Sneak Peek: Engagement Photos

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to post these yet, since these are just snippets from Vina’s iPhone. I would also link her, but she has so many blogs I wouldn’t even know which one to link to. Maybe Vain Vina. Because I love her face.

I wanted her to do our photos because I love her style. She’s the multimedia maven for the EatGoodFood group. Her posts for the restaurants are so well composed, fun and well basically I feel like if she could make all this food look delicious…she could probably make us look good too?

I don’t really like taking pictures. I feel awkward standing in front of a camera and posing. (There goes my modeling career right?) But I really wanted to capture our little family dynamic and have some good shots. She made us feel very comfortable, and we pretty much just did normal things and she just happened to capture them. WIN!

Bawse was a better sport than I thought he would be. Mostly because he was out playing and swimming and every once in a while he would have to come pretend he loved us.

I can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures! Thank you again Vina!

DryBar Georgetown

I am not cheating on my stylist. I promise. But I had a photoshoot, and my hair is in that awkward length that I don’t know how to deal with. So after hearing rave reviews about DryBar, I wanted to give it a shot!

This place is SUPER cute. I love the hints of yellow. It’s so cheery, bright, and happy. I booked the appointment online for me and Deana. We checked in, they offered us a beverage (I chose sparkling fruit punch, yum!) and waited until my stylist came to get me.

Here’s the deal. It’s not a full service salon. It’s just a place that washes, dries and styles your hair. So simple. I know you are like, I can do my own hair. Good for you, I can’t. Oh and by the way, it’s a professional. It’s $40 bucks, and you get to be pampered. I love it.

Amber came out, sat me down at her station. Asked me when the last time I washed my hair. After finding out its been awhile (I know I’m disgusting and busy) she offered a double wash. I chose the Mai Tai, which is a loose beachy wave. After I decided, we went to the other room for a glorious relaxing shampoo. The best part of any hair styling situation.

Dewey Beach Recap: Mother’s Day Weekend

My maman wasn’t buried in the ground. She was cremated, and her ashes were spread in the ocean in Dewey Beach, Delaware, where she first got on a surfboard. She wanted to be scattered in the ocean because she loved traveling. She didn’t want her body and spirit buried in the ground, but free to travel where the waves take her. Because of this, we feel her presence the strongest at large bodies of water. And because we can’t leave flowers at a grave, we release flower petals in the ocean.

Dad’s Birthday Recap

I’m a Daddy’s girl. For the longest time, I was his little tomboy princess. Now it’s my little sister’s turn to have the crown. She’s 4.

We love him so much, that we went to his house, 2 hours away, after work during traffic, to celebrate his special day with him. And he’s lucky because it’s always crawfish season when it’s his birthday. So we do how any cajuns would do a birthday. With a crawfish boil!

So he’s been 21 for over 30 years now I’m sure. But we’ll let him have it.

Since my brother and I don’t drink anymore, he made us take shots of frosting. Disgusting. But that’s love.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Though mine is no longer with me, I think about her even more than usual today. I was lucky to spend one last Mother’s Day with her, before she passe (the next day). You may not always get along, but your mother is still your mother. Whether she gave you life, or maybe it was someone who raised you. Think of them and make them feel extra special today!
